What is 3DS?
3DS is a fraud prevention tool that enables us to verify that you authorized a transaction. It works by sending you a 1-time code to use before proceeding with certain online transactions.
Why does Float use 3DS?
With online fraud on the rise industry-wide, Float is dedicated to ensuring your protection and the integrity of our product. As such, we use 3DS in certain higher-risk transactions to validate that you are the one making the purchase and that your card is safe.
I did not get my one-time code, what are my next steps?
If your phone number is added to your account, the one-time code will be sent to you via text, otherwise, it will be via email. If you do not receive a code, log in to your Float account and double-check that the phone number or email address is correct. If it was sent via email also check your spam.
For ease of use, we recommend adding your mobile phone number to your Float account so you can receive your secure codes via text instead of email.

Will 3DS be required for in-person purchases?
No. 3DS verification is applied only when you are using your card to checkout on online purchases. In-person transactions will see no change in the process.
How do I know if a transaction requires 3DS verification?
If a transaction requires verification you will see the following pop-up as you checkout:
