You recently stayed at a hotel where a deposit was placed onto your float card. After your stay, you notice that the deposit remained in your float account in a “pending” state.
This is because Hotels usually send an authorization for the amount of the stay and the deposit
- They’ll clear the amount of the stay ~1 day afterwards
- The deposit can stay in limbo for up to 30 days afterwards. This is usually because the hotel staff does not “issue a reversal” in their system
You have two options on clearing your pending transaction:
- You can wait the 30 days for the deposit to automatically expire in the system, or
- You can contact the hotel, explain that you’re seeing a pending transaction still on your card, and request them to "manually reverse (or cancel) the pending transaction" in their system.
If the hotel claims that they did issue the reversal (NOT cleared), please contact support at firstname.lastname@example.org, we do request they send some sort of transaction token or number for us to track the funds as well.
